Men's Hockey Falls at Holy Cross, 4-2

Storrs, Conn. - The UConn men's hockey team traveled to Worcester, Mass. for the first of two games against Holy Cross and fell, 4-2. UConn saw power-play goals from senior Andrew Olson (Alexandria, Minn.) and junior Chris Waterstradt (Tulsa, Okla.). Garrett Bartus (St. Charles, Ill.) finished with 19 saves. Redshirt freshman Matt Grogan (Gilbert, Ariz.) made six saves for the Huskies in relief of Bartus.
With the loss, UConn falls to 7-14-4 (7-9-2 AHA) while Holy Cross improves to 8-14-3 (7-8-3 AHA).
Holy Cross came out early with a 2-0 lead 13:49 into the first period with a pair of goals from Rob Linsmayer.
UConn quickly cut the lead to 2-1 at 14:48 with Olson's team-leading 11th goal of the season. Freshmen Rui Encarnaco (White Plains, N.Y.) and Billy Latta (West Chester, Pa.) earned their seventh and 12th assists, respectively.
The second period failed to produce a goal for either team before the Crusaders went up 4-1 with two-straight goals in the third period.
UConn made it 4-2 with a late power-play goal from Waterstradt at 19:46, but it was too late for the Connecticut comeback. Waterstradt was assisted by sophomores Miles Winter (Horsham, Pa.) and Sean Ambrosie (Moorhead, Minn.). Both Winter and Ambrosie earned their 11th assist on the play.
The two teams will finish the season series tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. at Holy Cross.
