Lacrosse Announces Fall Schedule

STORRS, Conn. - Connecticut Head Coach Katie Woods announced the 2011 fall schedule and the Huskies will compete in six playdays. UConn will conclude the fall schedule with the annual alumni game and banquet on Saturday, October 22 beginning at 1 p.m.
Connecticut finished the 2011 season with a 9-7 record and a 3-5 mark in the BIG EAST Conference.
UConn opens the fall schedule on Saturday, September 24 with a playday at Hofstra at the third annual Nick Colleluori Women's Lacrosse Classic. The tournament was the first of its kind on the women's side to help raise funds and awareness for the HEADstrong Foundation and blood cancer research.
Participating in the tournament will be 13 teams: Hofstra, Adelphi, Central Connecticut State, Connecticut, C.W. Post, Iona, Johns Hopkins, La Salle, Long Island, Monmouth, Vermont, New York Athletic Club and Team HEADstrong (Hofstra lacrosse alumnae). Each squad will play four games and the schedule of the contests will be announced at a later date. All the teams will be given lime green laces to be worn during the tournament to show their support.
The Huskies will travel to Providence, R.I. to compete at Brown on Saturday, October 1 before taking part in the Princeton playday on Sunday, October 2. Princeton advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals last season, falling to NCAA Runner-up Maryland.
At Princeton, UConn is scheduled to face the hosts along with Fairfield, Lafayette and Villanova.
Connecticut will also compete at the University of Vermont Catamount Classic at Thayer Academy in Braintree, Mass. on Saturday, October 8. The Catamount Classic will see UConn face off against the hosts, Boston University, Iona and Bryant.
The playdays conclude at Boston College on Saturday, October 15 where UConn is set to take on Boston College, Boston University and UMass.
