UConn Set to Face Temple Wednesday

PHILADELPHIA - The UConn women's lacrosse team continues its conference schedule on the road Wednesday, April 13 at 3 p.m. when it takes on Temple at Geasey Field.
The Huskies are looking to defend their undefeated, 3-0 Big East record Wednesday. UConn and Florida are the only two teams in the league without a recorded loss to a conference opponent.
UConn improved to 9-2 overall after most recent victory at Marquette Saturday. Junior Maggie Tripodi (Syracuse, N.Y.) led the Huskies with five points, tallying a career-high four goals and tacking on an assist.
Senior Katherine Finkelston (Leonardtown, Md.) currently leads the team with 42 points (38g, 4a), followed by sophomore Grace Nolan (Marcellus, N.Y.) with 41 points (32g, 9a) and junior Jacqueline Jordan (Los Gatos, Calif.) with 29 (15g, 14a).
Senior goalkeeper Shannon Nee (Lancaster, Pa.) has started in all 11 contests for UConn and boasts the top save percentage in the league of .524. Nee has totaled 109 saves this season and currently hold a 9.23 goals against average.
SCOUTING THE OWLS
Temple is currently 9-3 overall as it enters Wednesday's match-up and is an even 1-1 in Big East games. The Owls opened conference play with a one-goal loss to Florida, before earning their first conference win in most recent victory to Vanderbilt.
Despite being tied 3-3 halfway through the first half, Temple took a 6-3 lead going into the second half. The Owls held the Commodores to a scoreless second half and claimed a 7-3 decision in the end.
Rachel Schwaab currently leads Temple with 35 points (22g, 13a) followed by Megan Tiernan with 33 points (22g, 11a) and Brenda McDermott with 27 (15g, 12a). Temple goalkeeper, senior Jaqi Kakalecik has seen all 720 minutes in goal for the owls, where she has stopped 75 shots for a .500 save percentage, the second best in the league, and a 6.25 goals against average, the best in the Big East.
THE SERIES
The all-time series between UConn and Temple is currently split 2-2. The Huskies and the Owls faced off last season and the Huskies claimed an 18-6 victory at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex on April 8, 2015. UConn has won the two most recent match-ups with Temple in 2015 and 2014.
