Huskies Close Out Home Schedule With Georgetown

STORRS, Conn. - After clinching a spot in the post-season, the UConn women's lacrosse team will play its last home game of the season Wednesday, April 20 at 3 p.m. when it hosts Georgetown at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex.
The Huskies secured a spot in the Big East tournament with their most recent win, 13-10, against Vanderbilt Saturday on senior day. Six different seniors tallied points for UConn, including Katherine Finkelston (Leonardtown, Md.), Carly Palmucci (Herndon, Va.), Alexandra Crofts (Westport, Conn.), Alyson Fazio (Methuen, Mass.), Victoria Thompson (Ellicott City, Md.) and Madalyn Pimental (Massapequa, N.Y.).
UConn is currently 11-2 overall heading into Wednesday's conference rivalry, with an undefeated, 5-0, record in Big East games. Connecticut and Florida are the only two teams in the league who are still undefeated in conference play and have secured spots in the tournament.
Sophomore Grace Nolan (Marcellus, N.Y.) currently leads the Huskies with 49 points (37g, 12a) followed by Finkelston with 45 points (40g, 5a) and junior Jacqueline Jordan (Los Gatos, Calif.) with 31 (16g, 15a).
Senior goalkeeper Shannon Nee (Lancaster, Pa.) posted a combined 26 saves in UConn's two games last week, which brings her season total to 117 saves for a .536 save percentage, the best in the league, and a 9.14 goals against average.
SCOUTING THE HOYAS
Georgetown currently owns a 5-8 overall record and is 3-1 in Big East games. The Hoyas are coming off two conference victories against Cincinnati and Villanova; their only conference loss came against Florida on April 9, where they fell to the Gators 14-7 on Georgetown's home turf.
Seniors Kristen Bandos and Corinne Etchison are currently tied at the top of Georgetown's leaderboard with 27 points. Bandos, the team's leading goal scorer, has 23 goals and four assists on the season while Etchison leads in assists and has 16 goals and 11 assists so far this season.
Georgetown goalkeepers Maddy Fisher and Megan McDonald have split time in net for the Hoyas, both seeing approximately 390 minutes so far this season with Fisher earning all 13 starts. Fisher has stopped 41 shots for a .366 save percentage and an 11.11 goals against average while McDonald has made 49 saves and has a .434 percentage and a 9.69 goals against average.
THE SERIES
Georgetown currently leads the all-time series with UConn 16-1. UConn earned its first ever victory against Georgetown last season, where the Huskies upset the Hoyas, 11-10, in the Big East semifinals to advance to their first ever Big East Championship game.
Finkelston led the team with three goals, followed by Jordan and Nolan, who both scored twice. Junior Molly O'Reilly (South Salem, N.Y.) scored the game-winning goal with 15 minutes remaining in the game and despite three straight goals for the Hoyas, UConn maintained a one-goal lead in the end.
