Huskies Storm Past Quinnipiac, 6-1

STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women's tennis team hosted their only dual match of the fall season on Wednesday afternoon as the Quinnipiac Bobcats paid a visit to the UConn Tennis Courts on campus. The Huskies posted an impressive 6-1 win over QU and will now wrap up the fall with one final tournament in two weeks.
The Huskies opened by claiming the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. The senior-freshman combo of Gillian Perrotta (Scarsdale, N.Y.) and Julieanne Bou (New Braunfels, Texas) got things started with a 6-2 win over Jennifer Lu and Payton Bradley, improving to 10-4 this fall together. The senior-rookie combo of Jacquelyn Fitz-Randolph (Tampa, Fla.) and Luciana Rabines (Barcelona, Spain) closed out the opening point by beating Kamilla Nella and Layla Rodriguez, 6-4.
In singles action, Rabines got things started with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Rodriguez at No. 6. Senior Jacqueline Lazaro (Largo, Fla.) was a winner at No. 4 over Bradley, 6-3, 6-1 and Bou clinched the team victory at No. 2, winning her team-leading ninth singles match this fall by beating Lu, 6-1 and 6-2.
At No. 5, Perrotta was a 6-3, 6-3 winner over Proyfon Lohaphaisan and junior Cassie Chung (Vancouver, British Columbia) wrapped up the Husky win with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 3.
UConn will close out the fall season at the University of Buffalo Invitational on October 26-28.
