No. 5 Huskies Beat No. 24 BU, 2-1

BOSTON – Redshirt senior Cecile Pieper scored the go-ahead goal as the No. 5 UConn field hockey team (14-3) topped No. 24 Boston University (9-6), 2-1, Sunday afternoon.
The win over the Terriers is the Huskies' seventh over a ranked team this season.
The teams held close for the first 10 minutes of the game with no shots from either team. BU notched the first goal of the game at 23:21 on a penalty stroke. Junior Svea Boker scored four minutes later to tie the game off an assist from junior Amelia Iacobucci.
Pieper notched a goal at 59:33 in the second half to give UConn its first lead of the game. The Huskies were able to keep the Terriers off the board, even when the home team took three penalty corners in the waning moments of the game. Redshirt freshman Cheyenne Sprecher made all three of her saves in the last seconds to maintain UConn's lead.
BU led 8-7 in shots, but UConn led 6-4 in shots on goal. The Terriers held a 6-4 advantage in penalty corners.
Pieper and Boker lead the Huskies' offense this season. Pieper has 17 goals and 43 points while Boker has 12 goals and 34 points.
UConn is back on the road for the team's final two games of the regular season. The Huskies will take on Georgetown Friday in Washington, D.C., before facing American Sunday.
