No. 4 Huskies Take D.C. for Final Regular Season Weekend

STORRS, Conn. – The No. 4 UConn field hockey team (14-3, 6-0 BIG EAST) concludes the regular season with two road games in Washington, D.C. The Huskies take on Georgetown (11-6, 2-4 BIG EAST) Friday at 2 p.m. before facing American (7-7, 3-2 Patriot League) Sunday at 1 p.m.
Huskies Win BIG EAST Regular Season Championship
For the sixth straight season and 18th time overall, the Huskies won the BIG EAST regular season championship. UConn is 6-0 in conference play this year and the team has won 31 straight BIG EAST regular season games, dating back to 2013. The Huskies will be the No. 1 overall seed in the upcoming BIG EAST Tournament.
Last Time Out
UConn is coming off a 2-1 win over No. 24 Boston University last Sunday. After going down 1-0, Svea Boker and Cecile Pieper scored to put the Huskies ahead. Cheyenne Sprecher made three saves in the final minute of play to keep BU off the board.
Scouting the Hoyas
Georgetown is coming off two games that went to penalty shootouts. The Hoyas fell 2-1 to Providence before beating Longwood 2-1 last weekend. This season, Cami Osborne leads Georgetown with nine goals and 20 points while Lindsay Getz is second with eight goals and 19 points. Ciara Weets has started every game in goal and holds a 1.79 goals-against average and a .712 save percentage.
The Huskies beat the Hoyas 10-0 last season in Storrs.
Scouting the Eagles
American has dropped its last three games, including a 1-0 overtime loss to No. 13 Rutgers last Sunday. The Eagles will face Colgate Saturday before facing UConn Sunday. Noor Coenen leads American with seven goals and 19 points while Rafeaela Rubas as 18 points. Maura Jacobs has started every game in goal and holds a 1.52 goals-against average and .738 save percentage.
UConn and American last faced each other in 2013, when the Eagles won, 4-3.
Road Warriors
UConn is in the middle of a three-game road streak to end the regular season. This year, the Huskies are 7-0 in road games and have outscored opponents 30-9 away from home.
