No. 4 UConn Bests Georgetown, Finishes BIG EAST Play Undefeated

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Four Huskies scored as the No. 4 UConn field hockey team (15-3, 7-0 BIG EAST) beat Georgetown (11-7, 2-5), 4-1, Friday afternoon. The Huskies completed BIG EAST Conference play undefeated for the fifth straight season.
Redshirt senior Cecile Pieper, freshman Liz Romano, senior Amanda Collins and freshman Maddy Wray each scored for UConn. Junior Svea Boker dished out two assists in the game.
Pieper scored at the 6:56 mark off an assist from Collins. Boker snuck a pass across the net for a Romano goal at 14:36 and UConn took a 2-0 lead to halftime.
Georgetown scored its only goal of the game on a penalty stroke 26 seconds into the second half. The goal was also the only Hoyas' shot the Huskies allowed in the game.
Boker found Collins for a wide angle shot and a goal at 57:54. Wray notched the final goal of the game at 67:23 off a pass from Pieper.
The Huskies held an 18-1 advantage in shots and an 11-1 lead in penalty corners.
UConn is on a 32-game win streak in BIG EAST regular season play. The Huskies' last conference loss in the regular season came on Oct. 25, 2013, in a 5-0 loss to Old Dominion.
The Huskies conclude the regular season at American on Sunday at 1 p.m.
