UConn falls to Cincinnati

Huskies head to the sunshine state next
STORRS, CT.—UConn (10-8, 2-3) hosted undefeated American Athletic Conference opponent Cincinnati (14-4, 5-0), Sunday at noon in Gampel Pavilion.
Senior Emma Turner lit a fire under UConn's offense in the opening set. Turner hit a solid .667 percent while assisting her teammates 11 times. She was also very active on the defensive front with two block assists. Matching Turner's offensive energy was sophomore Isabelle Peterson hitting .667 percent and freshman Caylee Parker with several kills.
The Huskies leveled up their aggressive approach on both ends of the court in the following set. UConn ultimately took set two, 25-23, to position themselves at 1-1 with Cincinnati thanks to several kills and perfectly timed defensive stands. Senior Iman McGary walled off the the Bearcats with the final blow heading into halftime. Peterson continued her efficiency clipping a .600 percent and adding five total blocks (one solo; four block assists). UConn had a total of eight team blocks. The score had been tied a total of 11 times with the lead changing twice.
The Bearcats would take the next two sets and the match, 3-1.
Turner finished the match with four kills, 35 assists, a service ace, seven digs, and six block assists. Leading the Huskies in kills was freshman Anna Petrova with 12. Senior Elizabeth Kline had 19 digs. Peterson concluded the match hitting the most efficient for UConn, .385. The team nabbed 10 blocks on the afternoon.
UConn heads to the sunshine state to face USF on Oct. 12 and UCF on Oct. 14.
