WSOC Hosts CCSU on Thursday Night

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women's soccer team is set to host Central Connecticut State University on Thursday, Aug. 23 at 7 p.m. at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium.
UConn holds a 15-1 all-time record against the Blue Devils. Last season the Huskies notched a 3-0 win against CCSU with a pair of goals scored by Kess Elmore. The matchup features a twin sister matchup between UConn head coach Margaret (Tietjen) Rodriguez and CCSU assistant coach Jennifer (Tietjen) Prozzo. Prozzo is the UConn record holder in career assists with 64 in 97 career games. Her 97 points ranks 11th in program history. While Rodriguez is one of just four UConn players to be a part of the "40-40" Club with 40 career goals and 40 assists.
UConn is coming off a pair of losses to Northeastern and Syracuse to begin the 2018 campaign. Sophia Danyko-Kulchycky scored her first career in her last contest against the Orange. The Huskies ended a four-game unbeaten streak to open the 2017 season with a victory over the Blue Devils.
CCSU is 1-0 to begin the season with a 1-0 victory over UMass to its credit. The Blue Devils were picked to finish third in the Northeast Conference and received one first place vote. Danielle Pearse secured Northeast Conference Player of the Week honors by scoring the game-winning goal vs. UMass.
UConn goalkeeper Randi Palacios has been solid in goal with 13 saves in two matches.
Thursday night will feature the first Jersey Day of the season; any fan 18 years old or younger can wear any type of jersey (local youth team, college, professional) and receive free admission to the game.
It will also be Junior Husky Club Day at Morrone Stadium with current Junior Husky Club members receiving free admission. For fans that want to join or renew Junior Husky Club membership will be able to do so at the game.
