STORRS, Conn. - The UConnย women's soccer team wasย unable to capitalize on early scoring opportunities and lost 1-0 to Eastern Michigan on Friday night in front of 1101 fans at Morroneย Stadium.
UConnย held a 7-3 shot and 5-1 corner kick advantage at the end of the first half but trailed 1-0 to the Eagles.
Sabrina McNeil scored her third goal of the season at the 41:28 mark to push Eastern Michigan in front.
UConnย had multiple chances in the first half to get on the board first. Sophomore Yamilee Eveillardย totaled three shots in the first frame including a dart from long distance that the Eagle's keeper had to leap and knock over the bar.
Junior Regan Schiappaย came forward from her outside back position and created a pair of scoring opportunities for the Huskies.
UConnย continued to string together chances at the beginning of the second half but could never find the equalizer.
Goalkeeper Randi Palaciosย registered six saves including a couple in the second half that kept the Huskies within striking distance.
UConnย now shifts its focus to American Athletic Conference play with a road trip to the state of Texas. The Huskies face Houston on Thursday, Sept. 20 at 8 p.m. ET
