Men's Soccer Hits the Road for Memphis

STORRS, Conn. – Hitting the road for only the second time this season, the UConn men's soccer team will head down south to take on Memphis under the Friday night lights at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex on Sept. 28 at 8 p.m. CT.

Heading into the Matchup
- UConn enters the game with a 4-2-1 record, including an unblemished 4-0 mark at home.
- Senior Abdou Mbacke Thiam leads the team with six goals, while fellow senior Dayonn Harris, freshman Felix Metzler and sophomore Robin Lapert have each chipped in one goal apiece, respectively. Harris has dished out a team-leading four assists.
- Junior Austin Aviza has patrolled the posts in five of the seven games this season, recording seven saves and tallying a 0.72 goals-against average.
- Four Huskies have earned AAC recognition – freshman Felix Metzler was tabbed AAC Rookie of the Week on August 27 after burying the game-winning goal against Lehigh in the season opener, while senior Jacob Hauser-Ramsey earned Defensive Player of the Week honors on Sept. 17 after he helped anchor the UConn defense and dished out two assists in a 3-2 double-overtime win vs. Loyola Maryland. Senior Abdou Mbacke Thiam has been named to the AAC honor roll twice, while Dayonn Harris received AAC honor roll honors after he scored a goal and dished out an assist in last week's match against USF.
- UConn trails in the all-time series vs Memphis, 2-3, and has lost the last three matchups against the Tigers.
Last Time Out
The Huskies enter Friday's game coming off an even 2-2 contest against USF. Dayonn Harris scored his first career collegiate goal, while teammate Abdou Mbacke Thiam notched the other UConn goal. Mbacke Thiam's goal moved him into eighth all-time on the UConn career goal scoring list.
Leading the Pack
Ray Reid leads the Huskies in his 22nd season as the head coach. A four-time National Coach of the Year and National Champion, Reid boasts the second highest winning percentage (.745) amongst active coaches.
