UConn to Host Cincinnati, East Carolina

STORRS, Conn. – The Huskies (8-8, 2-2 American) are back home at Gampel Pavilion for two American Conference games as they host Cincinnati (12-4, 4-0 American) on Friday, October 11th at 7pm and East Carolina (13-4, 1-3 American) on Sunday, October 13th at 12pm.
This Week's Matchups
Cincinnati comes off two home victories against UCF (3-0) and USF (3-1).The Bearcats are led by Jordan Thompson who leads the team with 363 kills and 6.26 kills/set, hitting at a team-high . 356 clip for the season. Thompson is also the national leader in kills, points, kills/set, and points/set. Armani Heckenmueller aids the offense with a team-high 670 assists and 11.55 assists/set on the season. Maria Mallon's 159 digs and 2.89 digs/set lead the Bearcat defense.
East Carolina visits Storrs after also hosting USF and UCF. The Pirates split the weekend matches, beating USF (3-0) and falling to UCF (3-0). The Pirates offense is led by Sydney Kleinman who has registered 196 kills, averaging 3.50 kills/set and Bri Wood who has also tallied 196 kills, averaging 3.06 kills/set and hits at .306 on the season. Shelby Martin helps the ECU offense with a team-high 6.73 assists/set, recording 424 assists this season. Brandee Markwith leads the Pirate defense with 291 digs this season, averaging 4.55 digs/set.
Last Time Out
The Huskies return to action after two conference games last week. UConn took down Temple (3-1) on the road and fell to Tulane (3-0) at home. Sophomore Caylee Parker led the Huskies with 25 kills last weekend, averaging 3.57 kills/set. Parker also added 24 digs at 3.43 digs/set. R-Junior Genna Florig and R-Sophomore Courtney Morris have made big impacts to the Husky offense this season. Morris hit at a .429 clip on the weekend and tallied 76 assists, averaging 10.86 assists/set. Florig registered 17 kills last weekend and hit at a .268 clip, also adding seven total blocks. Freshman Allie Garland recorded 12 kills and eight total blocks while hitting .281 over the weekend. R-Junior Avery Spaziani led the Husky defense with 30 digs, averaging 4.29 digs/set.
