Huskies Fall to Cincinnati

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn volleyball team fell to Cincinnati 3-0 on Friday night at Gampel Pavilion. The Huskies drop to 8-9 on the season and 2-3 in conference play. The Bearcats improve to 13-4 and remain undefeated in conference play at 5-0.
How it Happened
The Huskies drop their second straight conference game after a tough night against Cincinnati. The first set began with back and forth action with the teams exchanging points. A kill by Caylee Parker brought the Huskies within one, trailing 12-11 roughly halfway through the first set. The Bearcats, however, found a rhythm and went on a 13-3 run to win the set 25-14. The second set saw UConn fall behind early and struggle to slow down the Cincinnati offense. The Bearcats claimed a 25-14 victory in set two. The third and final set was a tight contest. Like the first set, the teams exchanged points early on. The Bearcats took a 13-11 lead midway through the set. The Huskies battled hard to keep the score close, but fell short, losing the last set 25-20.
Sophomore Kennadie Jake-Turner recorded five kills and two blocks, hitting at .364 throughout the game. R-Junior Genna Florig tallied four kills, three digs, and two blocks. Sophomore Anna Petrova and R-Sophomore Courtney Morris each had three blocks. Morris added 10 assists and five digs. Petrova also tallied five kills and six digs. Sophomore Caylee Parker had a team-high six kills and added five digs on the evening.
