No. 3 UConn to Take on Temple, No. 4 Maryland

STORRS, Conn. – The No. 3 UConn field hockey team (9-1, 2-0) is back on the road for a pair of games. The Huskies face Temple (4-4, 0-2) Friday at 5 p.m. before taking on No. 4 Maryland (9-1) Sunday at noon.
Last Time Out
Senior Svea Boker and freshman Sophie Hamilton each scored twice to lead UConn to a 4-0 win over Boston University last Sunday. Redshirt sophomore Cheyenne Sprecher made nine saves while recording her fifth shutout of the season.
Huskies Sweep BIG EAST Honors
UConn players took each of the BIG EAST weekly honors this week after going 2-0 last weekend. Senior Svea Boker repeated as the Offensive Player of the Week after notching nine points (4G, 1A) in two games. Redshirt sophomore Cheyenne Sprecher was named Defensive Player of the Week after making 15 total saves. Sophie Hamilton was tabbed Freshman of the Week after notching seven points (2G, 3A).
Beasts of the BIG EAST
UConn has won 34 straight BIG EAST regular season games, dating back to the 2013 season. The Huskies have won six straight BIG EAST regular season and tournament titles. UConn was picked as the preseason favorite to win the conference title again this season.

Scouting the Owls
Temple is coming off a 2-1 loss to Penn last Sunday. Three Owls lead the team with six points each: Claire Thomas (2G, 2A), Dani Batze (3G) and Kerrie Lorenz (2G, 2A). Cristina Carotenuto has played every minute in goal and holds a 1.50 goals-against average and .707 save percentage.
Scouting the Terrapins
Maryland is coming off a 2-1 win over No. 18 Rutgers last Saturday. The Terps take on No. 5 Northwestern Thursday before facing UConn Sunday. This season Madison Maguire leads Maryland with six assists and 16 points while Linda Cobano has the team lead with six goals. Noelle Frost has started every game in goal and holds a 1.01 GAA and .767 save percentage.
