No. 3 Huskies Whitewash Temple, 5-0

PHILADELPHIA – Junior Jessica Dembrowski scored twice as the No. 3 UConn field hockey team (10-1, 3-0 BIG EAST) defeated Temple (4-5, 0-3), 5-0, Friday evening.
Freshman McKenna Sergi had her first career start and goal vs. Temple. Senior Svea Boker and sophomore Abby Gooderham each scored against the Owls. Gooderham and freshman Sophie Hamilton each had three assists.
Dembrowski notched the first goal at 11:36 off assists from Hamilton and Gooderham. Sergi scored her goal at 17:11.
Just over a minute later, Dembrowski tallied her second off a defection from a penalty corner shot.
Gooderham scored off a penalty corner opportunity with time expired at the end of the second quarter as UConn took a 4-0 lead into halftime.
Boker notched a goal at 34:28 off an assist from Gooderham.
Redshirt sophomore Cheyenne Sprecher notched her sixth shutout of the season against Temple.
The Huskies held a 22-3 advantage in shots and a 16-2 lead in corners.
UConn is back in action Sunday at No. 4 Maryland at noon.
