Huskies Swept by SMU

DALLAS, Texas – The UConn volleyball team fell to Southern Methodist (13-5, 6-2 American) in three sets on Sunday afternoon. The Huskies (8-12, 2-6 American) drop a fifth straight conference game.
How it Happened
The Huskies fell behind early in the first set and struggled to make up ground. The Mustangs offense found a rhythm and took the first set 25-10. UConn responded well in the second set, keeping the score close throughout. The set saw back and forth action before SMU got the edge late and won the second set 25-21. The third and final set was another hard fought game. The Huskies came out strong, battling hard in a close contest. The Mustangs, however, held off UConn and claimed a 26-24 victory and won the match 3-0.
Sophomore Caylee Parker led the Husky offense with 14 kills, hitting .426 on the afternoon. Parker added five digs and finished the match with 14 points. Fellow sophomore Kennadie Jake-Turner recorded six kills and four blocks. R-Sophomore Courtney Morris led the team in assists, with 21, and blocks, tallying six. Freshman Mia Ruffolo had a team-high 12 digs and added three assists. Fellow freshman Allie Garland tallied five kills and three blocks, hitting .333 on the afternoon.

The Huskies return home Friday, October 25th to take on Wichita State at 7:00 pm at Gampel Pavilion. UConn will also play host to Tulsa at Gampel on Sunday, October 27th at 12:00 pm to close out the weekend.
