No. 3 Huskies to Host Providence, No. 10 Delaware

STORRS, Conn. – The third-ranked UConn field hockey team (10-2, 3-0 BIG EAST) returns to the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex this weekend to host a pair of games. The Huskies take on Providence (7-4, 2-1) Friday at 3 p.m. and No. 10 Delaware (8-2) Sunday at noon.
UConn's game vs. Providence was moved to a 3 p.m. start time due to concerns over mosquito-borne virus EEE. The game was previously scheduled for a 6 p.m. start.
Sunday is UConn's Pink Game. Fans are encouraged to wear pink. The Huskies will honor Ginny O'Neill '85, a former field hockey team member who passed away in May.

Last Time Out
UConn fell to No. 4 Maryland, 2-0, last Sunday. Redshirt sophomore Cheyenne Sprecher made eight saves in the game, including seven in the second half.

Providence is coming off a 5-1 win over Dartmouth last Sunday. This season, Izzy Mendez leads the Friars with seven goals and 16 points. Lydia Rice has started every game in goal and holds a 1.36 goals-against average and .714 save percentage.
Scouting the Blue Hens
Delaware picked up a 5-1 win over No. 25 Northeastern on Sunday. Femke Strien leads the team with nine goals and 20 points this year. Sydney Rhodes has started every game in goal and holds an 0.82 GAA and a .778 save percentage.
