WHOC Set to Compete in 16th Annual Nutmeg Classic

STORRS, Conn. – Stepping away from Hockey East action, the UConn women's hockey team gets set to compete in the 16^th annual Nutmeg Challenge this weekend, hosted by Quinnipiac this year. The Huskies will battle Yale Friday afternoon at 1:00 pm before taking on either Quinnipiac or Minnesota Duluth Saturday afternoon.

What to Know:

UConn leads the all-time series against Yale (10-4-1) and are tied with Quinnipiac through 19 meetings (9-9-1). Minnesota Duluth holds a 7-0-1 mark all-time against the Huskies.
The Huskies enter the Nutmeg Classic 8-5-1 overall and 5-3-1 in Hockey East. UConn is 4-1-1 in its last six games, including two wins over #5/6 Boston College.
Natalie Snodgrass leads the UConn attack with 16 points on seven goals and nine assists, while Catherine Crawley has notched four goals and a team-high 11 assists to total 15 points.
Yale (5-4-0, 3-3-0 ECAC) jumped out to a 3-0 start that improved to five wins in six games before getting tougher challenges in league play. The Elis squad is led offensively by rookie Elle Hartje (5-6-11) and sophomore Emma Seitz (3-7-10), while sophomore Claire Dalton (2-7-9) and first-year Grace Lee (5-3-8) have also made early season contributions. Senior Tera Hofmann and junior Gianna Meloni have most of the work between the pipes.

Leading the Pack:

Chris MacKenzie enters his eighth season leading the UConn women's hockey team. MacKenzie has won over 100 games during his time at UConn and has been an instrumental part in turning the program around. In 2015-16, Mackenzie coached UConn to their first winning season since 2010.
