STORRS, Conn. – The UConn men's basketball team begins a three-game XL Center homestand that will take it to the end of 2019 by entertaining Saint Peter's, out of Jersey City, N.J., and the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. tipoff and will be televised by SNY.

What to Know
- In six meetings, UConn and Saint Peter's have each won three times. The two teams last played each other in 1987, a 75-70 Saint Peter's win during Jim Calhoun's first season as UConn's head coach. Saint Peter's is 1-3 against UConn in Connecticut, all played at the Greer Field House
- The Huskies (6-3) are coming off a 57-54 loss to Indiana in the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden on Dec. 10, which snapped a three-game winning streak.
- The team is led by three double-figure scorers, topped by senior Christian Vital (13.9), who is also the Huskies' leading rebounder (8.2). Juniors Josh Carlton (13.0) and Tyler Polley (10.7) are also averaging double figures, while redshirt junior Alterique Gilbert leads in assists (5.0) and redshirt freshman Akok Akok leads in blocked shots (3.0).
- St. Peter's (2-4) is coming off an 86-70 home victory over Fairleigh Dickinson on Dec. 11. Freshman Doug Edert is the leading scorer (11.2) for the Peacocks, while senior Derrick Woods tops the rebounders (6.7) and freshman Aaron Estrada leads in assists (2.8).
Leading the Pack
Dan Hurley begins his second season as head coach of the UConn men's basketball team. Hurley became the 19th head coach in the history of UConn men's basketball on March 22, 2018. Prior to his hiring, he spent two seasons at Wagner College and six at the University of Rhode Island, and owns a collegiate coaching record of 167- 122 (.578). Hurley made two consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances (2016-17, 2017-18) and was named the 2017-18 Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year.
