MBB Beats Saint Peter’s, 66-56

HARTFORD, Conn. – Tyler Polley knocked down four triples to total 12 points and freshman Jalen Gaffney added 10 points and five assists off the bench to help lead UConn to a 10-point victory over the Saint Peter's Peacocks Wednesday night at the XL Center. The Huskies improve to 7-3 on the year while SPU drops to 2-5.
The opening 10 minutes was a closely contested affair, but the Huskies exploded for a 19-2 run to grab a 39-20 advantage with 1:24 left in the opening half, capped off by Brendan Adam's finger roll. Isaiah Whaley jumpstarted the run with an offensive rebound and putback at the 9:23 mark.
UConn continued their solid play through the majority of the second half, leading by as many as 20 points during the frame.
Saint Peter's continued to fight and used a late burst to draw within 66-56, the final score.
