MBB Gears Up For Jimmy V Classic

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn men's basketball team, riding a three-game winning streak, heads to Madison Square Garden to make its fourth-ever appearance in the annual Jimmy V Classic, which is celebrating its 25th year.
UConn will take on Indiana, out of the Big Ten Conference, in the second half of an MSG doubleheader that begins with Louisville vs. Texas Tech. The UConn-Indiana game will begin at about 9:15 p.m. and will be televised by ESPN.

What to Know
- UConn leads the all-time series 6-3. The last matchup took place back on Nov. 22, 2013 in the finals of the 2K Sports Classic – a 59-58 UConn win.
- The Huskies (6-2), coming off an 80-62 home win over Iona, have five double-figure scorers, led by senior Christian Vital (14.8), who also is the rebounding leader(8.3).
- Josh Carlton (12.4), James Bouknight (11.4), Tyler Polley (10.5) and Alterique Gilbert (10.1) also average in double-figures and Gilbert hands out the most assists (4.6).
- Indiana (8-1), coming off an 84-64 loss at Wisconsin, is led by scoring by Devonte Green (14.8) and Trayce Jackson-Davis (14.8).
Leading the Pack
Dan Hurley begins his second season as head coach of the UConn men's basketball team. Hurley became the 19th head coach in the history of UConn men's basketball on March 22, 2018. Prior to his hiring, he spent two seasons at Wagner College and six at the University of Rhode Island, and owns a collegiate coaching record of 167- 122 (.578). Hurley made two consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances (2016-17, 2017-18) and was named the 2017-18 Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year.
Next Up
UConn begins a three-game homestand, all at the XL Center in Hartford, by playing host to Saint Peter's, the first meeting between the schools in 33 years, on Wednesday, Dec. 18. The game will tip off at 7 p.m. and be televised by SNY.
