Huskies head to Sunshine State to open outdoor season

STORRS, Conn.—The UConn women's track and field team is headed to Florida to compete in the UCF Invitational on Friday, March 22nd through Saturday, March. 23rd.
The Huskies opened their outdoor season with this meet last season as well. In the 1500 Meter Run, top-10 finishers Susan Aneno and Haley Hasty set the pace for UConn taking first and seventh place overall. In the 3000 Meter Run and 3000 Meter Steeple Chase, the Huskies had six runners in those races all crossing the finish line in the top-10.
Kelli Banks, Kat Surin, and Tia Strackman were the trio for UConn to nab top-10 finishes in the sprinting events. Surin took on the 400 Meter Dash alongside Strackman who also competed in the 100 Meter Hurdles. Banks vied for position in the 400 Meter Hurdles.
Moving off the track and into the field events, Divine Oladipo spearheaded UConn's efforts taking gold in shot put while contending in the discus.
The Huskies put together an extremely successful indoor season and have concluded their spring training in anticipated of this outdoor opener.
