Huskies Face URI on Wednesday in Storrs

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn baseball team returns to the diamond on Wednesday against the University of Rhode Island at 3 p.m. at J.O. Christian Field.
The Huskies are coming off a tough weekend in Greenville, N.C. that resulted in a three-game sweep against No. 12 ECU.
The Huskies are 24-16 overall and look to turn the page against its longest tenured rival, Rhode Island. The Huskies and Rams started their series in 1896, in the first year of UConn baseball.
The Huskies are 115-67-4 all-time against Rhody and lost the only meeting between the programs in 2018 in Kingston, R.I. by a score of 4-3. Colby Dunlop pitched a career-high 6.0 innings, allowing just two earned runs in a quality start.
The Rams are 17-19 overall and 8-4 in the Atlantic 10. They are led by Austin White at the plate with a .333 AVG and 10 stolen bases. Jackson Coutts leads the team with three home runs and Xavier Vargas is tops on the team with 25 RBIs.
The Huskies will face Justin Cherry on the bump; the right-hander is 2-1 with a 2.68 ERA. He has thrown 37.0 innings in 11 appearances and five starts.
