STORRS, Conn. – The UConn baseball opens a critical seven-game home stand on Tuesday, April 30 against Central Connecticut State at 3 p.m. at J.O. Christian Field.
The Huskies are 9-9 in the month of April and look to close out the month with a winning record against the Blue Devils. UConn is 32-9 all-time against their in-state rivals from New Britain.
The Huskies went 2-0 against the Blue Devils in 2018 with a 6-1 win at J.O. Christian Field and a 7-3 extra-inning triumph at CCSU. Thad Phillips crushed a three-run homer, his first of his career, to open the game to a four-run lead in the 10th inning.
The Blue Devils are 18-16 this season with an 8-7 mark in the Northeast Conference. Chandler DeBrosse leads the offense with a .292 AVG while Dave Matthews is tied for the team lead with three homers and is first with 22 RBIs.
The Huskies are coming off a tough series loss at Sam Houston State this past weekend. UConn was three outs away from clinching a major series win but a two-run home run from Hunter Hearn swung the series in favor of the Bearkats.
UConn resumes American Conference play on Friday, May 3 at Dunkin' Donuts Park in Hartford against Wichita State. The game will be streamed on The American Digital Network.
