STORRS, Conn. – The UConn baseball team allowed a season-low three hits as a pitching staff while banging out 15 hits en route to a 9-1 win against Central Connecticut State on Tuesday at J.O. Christian Field.

John Toppa set the tone with a leadoff home run in first inning, his fourth of the season, to open the scoring for the Huskies. UConn added two more runs in the opening frame on RBI singles from Kyler Fedko and Thad Phillips.

The Huskies plated three more runs in the fifth and sixth innings to break the game open.

That was plenty for the UConn pitching staff, who tied a season-low with three hits allowed. The previous mark came in a seven-run ballgame against UCF in a game the Huskies run-ruled the Knights, 10-0.

Angus Mayock earned his first career win with three shutout innings of work and posted a career-high five strikeouts. The right-hander scattered one hit and did not walk a batter.

Ben Maycock also notched a milestone with his first career hit in the eighth inning.

Anthony Prato recorded a three-hit game to reach 200 hits in his Husky career. He is only the 21^st Husky to accomplish the feat with John Toppa also reaching the mark earlier this season.

Five Huskies recorded multi-hit efforts including Kyler Fedko recording his third-straight multi-hit game. Both Christian and Kyler Fedko drove in a pair of runs for the Huskies.

UConn looks to carry its momentum into this weekend's three game series against American Conference foe, Wichita State. The Huskies and Shockers are set to kick off the series on Friday, May 3 at Dunkin' Donuts Park in Hartford at 7:05 p.m.
