HARTFORD, Conn. – The UConn baseball team plays a critical three-game series this weekend against Wichita State at Dunkin' Donuts Park in Hartford.
Due to inclement weather, the schedule has changed drastically with Friday's game time moved up an hour to a 6:05 p.m. first pitch. Saturday consists of a doubleheader that will begin at 12:30 p.m. The series finale will begin approximately 45 minutes after the end of game one.
Saturday's ticket will be good for both games of the doubleheader. Gates will be open at 5:30 p.m. on Friday and 12 p.m. on Saturday.
The Huskies are 27-18 overall this season with a 25 RPI ranking heading into the weekend. The Huskies are 7-8 in The American sitting in fifth place in the conference.
The Huskies are 4-1 all-time against the Shockers and will be hosting Wichita State for the first time in program history this weekend.
The Huskies played their first conference series against the Shockers in Kansas in 2018. The Huskies won two-of-three against the No. 20 Shockers with a doubleheader sweep on Friday of the series.
UConn also knocked off Wichita in a winner's bracket game in the conference tournament on May 23, 7-4.
The Shockers are 20-24 this season and 5-10 in The American a game ahead of USF for the final spot to the conference tournament. The Shockers are hitting .275 as a team with 31 home runs. The pitching staff has a 5.85 ERA.
