Huskies Fall to College of Charleston

ATHENS, Ohio – The Huskies fell to 3-6 after dropping their final game of the Ohio Invite against College of Charleston (3-0). The Cougars pick up their first win of the season, improving to 1-7.
Tough Test
UConn fought hard in a tightly contested first set, but fell by a score of 25-23. The Cougars got off to a strong start and took the second set 25-18. The third and final set was another close contest. After falling behind late, the Huskies went on a 5-0 run to cut the Cougar lead. But the comeback fell short and College of Charleston held on to win 25-22.
Freshman Allie Garland led the Huskies with 12 kills and Sophomore Caylee Parker added 11 kills and six digs. Redshirt Junior Avery Spaziani led the team with 13 digs and helped the offense with five assists. Freshman Madi Whitmire finished the game with a team-high 21 assists and added seven digs.
Up Next
The Huskies return home next weekend to host the Dog Pound Challenge at Gampel Pavilion where they will play three games in three days. UConn opens the weekend against Holy Cross Thursday, September 19th at 7 pm, followed by a Friday night tilt against Dartmouth on September 20th at 7 pm. The Huskies cap off the weekend against Providence on Saturday, September 21st at 6 pm.
