Huskies Win Thriller in Five Sets

STORRS, Conn. – The Huskies open the Dog Pound Challenge with a thrilling victory against Holy Cross. UConn improves to 4-6 on the season, while Holy Cross drops to 2-10. The win snaps the Huskies' three-game losing streak.
After losing the first set 25-14, the Huskies stormed back and took the second set 25-12. A close third set saw Holy Cross take a 2-1 lead. Back and forth action in the fourth set ended with UConn claiming a 25-21 victory to tie the game. The Huskies took the fifth set by a score of 15-11 with Sophomore Caylee Parker delivering the winning kill.
Parker led the team with 18 kills and added nine digs. R-Sophomore Courtney Morris' team-high 41 assists and 11 digs helped pace the Husky offense and R-Junior Genna Florig also added 11 kills and nine digs.
The tournament continues Friday, September 20 with the first game of the day featuring Dartmouth and Providence at 12 pm at Gampel Pavilion. The Huskies take on Dartmouth at 7 pm in the second game of the day. Friday's matchup with the Big Green will be the fourth in the school's history, with UConn holding a 2-1 record.
