UConn Takes Down Dartmouth

STORRS, Conn. – The Huskies grab a second straight win by defeating the Big Green 3-1 at Gampel Pavilion on Friday night. UConn improves to 5-6 on the season, while Dartmouth falls to 3-5.
UConn took a tightly contested first set by a score of 25-22. Dartmouth then tied the game with a 25-17 victory in the second set. The Huskies cruised to a 25-10 win in set three to head into the fourth set up 2-1. The set began with back and forth action before UConn came out with a 25-17 win to finish the match.
Sophomore Caylee Parker led the way for the Huskies with her fourth double-double of the season, tallying 14 kills and 12 digs. R-Junior Genna Florig recorded 11 kills and added four digs. Fellow R-Junior Avery Spaziani added 12 digs and R-Sophomore Courtney Morris had a team-high 32 assists and tallied six kills.
After the game, Head Coach Ellen Herman-Kimball said the coaching staff was delighted with the team's effort after the second set. "As a staff, we are really proud of the team to not let losing the second set define us and keeping the team morale up for the next set." She added that winning tonight's game was "not about capability, but about mentality."
The Huskies close out the weekend tournament with a matchup against Providence on Saturday at 6pm at Gampel Pavilion, where Herman-Kimball said they will be looking to "keep the foot on the gas" and come away with another win.
