HARTFORD, Conn. - The UConn women's soccer team lost its first home game of 2019 by a score of 3-1 to Harvard at Dillon Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Huskies jumped out of the gate with a pair of opportunities from junior Sophia Danyko-Kulchycky including a header attempt inside the six that the Harvard keeper was able to handle.
Harvard contributed the majority of the opportunities (11-5 shots)Â in the first half and converted at 29:31 to take a 1-0 advantage.Â
The Crimson extended the lead in the second half with a tally in the 55th minute.Â
UConn responded in quick fashion by countering with Jessica Mazo's first career goal on a scrum inside the box that found the freshman with plenty of space to deposit into the back of the net.
The Huskies continued to dial up the pressure with chances from Melina Couzis, Yamilee Eveillard and Danyko-Kulchycky but were unable to find the equalizer.
Harvard finally responded with an insurance goal in the 73rd minute to take the 3-1 lead.
