PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The UConn women's soccer team dropped to 2-2-1 on the season after a 2-0 defeat to Brown on Thursday night at Stevenson-Pincince Field.
The Bears created the majority of the scoring chances in the first half and finally broke through with 2:49 left to go. With a scrum in front of the UConn goal, Malina Yago was able to poke home her chance to gain the lead for Brown.
The Huskies were able to generate some quality chances in the second half but were unable to find the back of the net. In the 66th minute, Duda Santin drilled the crossbar and the ricochet fell to the feet of Jessica Mazo. Mazo pulled her shot attempt wide.
Moments later, Kess Elmore found Regan Schiappa on a beautiful cross inside the six but her header was saved on a great reaction play.
The Huskies were outshot 18-11 and Randi Palacios recorded eight saves on the night, a new career-high.
The Huskies return to action on Sunday, Sept 8 for their first game at Dillon Stadium in Hartford with a match up against Boston University at 1 p.m.
