WHOC Opens New Year with Holy Cross Home-and-Home Series

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women's hockey team returns to the ice this weekend, kicking off the New Year with a home-and-home series against the Holy Cross Crusaders. The Huskies host the Crusaders Friday afternoon at the Freitas Ice Forum at 3:00 pm, with the final game of the regular season series taking place that Saturday at 1:00 in Worcester.
Hockey East has partnered with CBS Sports Digital to begin the 2019-20 season, making all home men's and women's games available on CBS Sports Digital properties. The partnership kicks off with an early-season schedule that includes games provided for free on CBS SportsLive.

What to Know:
- UConn resumes Hockey East action this weekend with a 9-8-1 overall and 6-4-1 in Hockey East.
- The Huskies are 4-0 all-time against Holy Cross. UConn won the first matchup back on Oct. 12, 2-0, behind goals from Savannah Bouzide and Morgan Wabick.
- Natalie Snodgrass leads the UConn attack with 17 points on eight goals and nine assists, while Catherine Crawley has notched four goals and a team-high 11 assists to total 15 points. Briana Colangelo (11) and Taylor Wabick (10) are the other two Huskies with double figure points.
- Senior Rachel Moore leads the team with eight points from two goals and six assists, sharing the team lead in assists with freshman Paige McArthur. Freshman Mary Edmonds has tallied a team-leading three goals on the year.
- Sophomore goaltender Jada Brenon had been between the pipes for all three Holy Cross victories. She has posted career-best marks in both goals against average (3.27) and save percentage (.911) to this point.
Leading the Pack:
Chris MacKenzie enters his eighth season leading the UConn women's hockey team. MacKenzie has won over 100 games during his time at UConn and has been an instrumental part in turning the program around. In 2015-16, Mackenzie coached UConn to their first winning season since 2010.
