Huskies, Owls Set for Midweek Clash

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn men's basketball team gets back on campus for an American Athletic Conference game against Temple at Gampel Pavilion in Storrs, Conn. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. tipoff and will be televised by ESPNews.

What to Know
- In 20 games between the schools, the Huskies and Owls have each won 10 times.
- UConn (10-9 overall, 1-5 American), trying to break a four-game skid, is coming off a tough, 79-75 overtime loss to Tulsa on Sunday at the XL Center in Hartford.
- The Huskies are led in scoring (14.0) and rebounding (6.7) by senior Christian Vital. Three other Huskies are over 9 points per game -- freshman James Bouknight (9.8), injured junior Tyler Polley (9.5),a nd redshirt junior Alterique Gilbert (9.4). Gilbert leads the team in assists (4.6) and redshirt freshman Akok Akok is tops in blocked shots (3.0).
- Temple (10-9, 2-5) is coming on a 66-59 non-conference loss at Penn in Saturday, the Owls' third straight defeat. Temple is led in scoring by senior Quinton Rose (15.4), with junior Nate Pierre-Louis also in double figures (11.1). Pierre-Louis is also the leading rebounder on the team (8.4), while Rose hands out the most assists (3.5).
Leading the Pack
Dan Hurley begins his second season as head coach of the UConn men's basketball team. Hurley became the 19th head coach in the history of UConn men's basketball on March 22, 2018. Prior to his hiring, he spent two seasons at Wagner College and six at the University of Rhode Island and owns a collegiate coaching record of 167- 122 (.578). Hurley made two consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances (2016-17, 2017-18) and was named the 2017-18 Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year.
