Balanced Attack Leads UConn to Double-Digit Win Over Temple

STORRS, Conn. – Utilizing a well balanced attack, the UConn men's basketball team cruised to a 78-63 victory over the Temple Owls Wednesday night at Gampel Pavilion. The Huskies snap a four-game losing streak and improve to 11-9 overall.
Six players finished the game in double figures for the Huskies, led by senior Christian Vital who notched a double-double with 15 points and 10 boards to go along with four assists and four steals. James Bouknight and Brendan Adams each added a dozen, with Akok Akok, Josh Carlton and Isaiah Whaley contributing 10 points of their own, respectively.
Defensively, the Huskies forced 16 Temple turnovers, racked up nine steals, and swatted away seven shots.
UConn opened up a 24-8 lead over the first 12:21, including two separate runs of 8-0 and 10-0. Vital poured in eight points while Bouknight and Adams each added six points apiece, as the Huskies held a 15-point lead at the half, 36-21.
The Huskies kept the pressure on Temple in the second frame, pushing their lead to 22 points at the 11:01 mark after Bouknight threw down a vicious one-handed tomahawk in transition. Carlton led the charge, scoring six of the team's first nine points out of the break.
UConn coasted to the finish line, and grabbed its second conference win of the season.
