Huskies Set to Host Tulane in AAC Home Opener

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn men's basketball team plays its 2019-20 American Athletic Conference home opener, entertaining the Tulane Green Wave at Gampel Pavilion in Storrs, Conn. The game is scheduled for a 9 p.m. tipoff and will be televised by the CBS Sports Network.

What to Know
- UConn has won all seven meetings against the Green Wave.
- UConn (9-5 overall, 0-2 American) will be out to snap a two-game skid, the most recent a 75-60 loss at USF on Saturday.
- The Huskies are led in scoring (13.5) and rebounding (6.8) by senior guard Christian Vital, while junior Josh Carlton (9.6, 6.7) is second in both categories and freshman James Bouknight is a close third in scoring (9.5). Redshirt junior Alterique Gilbert leads the team in assists (4.7), while redshirt freshman Akok Akok is tops in blocked shots (3.0).
- Tulane (9-5, 1-1), is coming off a 76-71 home victory over Cincinnati on Saturday in New Orleans, its first conference win. The Green Wave is led in scoring by junior Teshaun Hightower (17.4) and grad student K.J. Lawson (13.9), while grad student Christion Thompson leads the team in rebounding (6.4) and assists (2.6).
Leading the Pack
Dan Hurley begins his second season as head coach of the UConn men's basketball team. Hurley became the 19th head coach in the history of UConn men's basketball on March 22, 2018. Prior to his hiring, he spent two seasons at Wagner College and six at the University of Rhode Island, and owns a collegiate coaching record of 167- 122 (.578). Hurley made two consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances (2016-17, 2017-18) and was named the 2017-18 Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year.
