STORRS, Conn. – The UConn men's basketball team returns to the court for the first time in 10 days, when it plays host to DePaul in a BIG EAST contest on Wednesday at Gampel Pavilion. Tipoff is set for 9 p.m. with television on CBS Sports Network.
The Huskies (3-1 overall, 0-1 BIG EAST ), beginning a busy span of 10 games over the next 33 days, are playing a DePaul team (1-1, 0-1)Â that also has been hampered by COVID-19-related issues and just was just able to begin its season last week.
UConn's last game was its BIG EAST opener, a 76-74 loss in overtime to Creighton on Dec. 20. Sophomore James Bouknight exploded for 40 points in that game and he leads the BIG EAST in scoring, both in overall games (24.0 ppg) and in league games (40.0 ppg). Junior R.J. Cole is also averaging double figures (11.3, 12.0) in both areas.
DePaul, coached by former longtime UConn assistant coach Dave Leitao, also went to overtime in its BIG EAST opener, bowing at Providence, 95-90, in double overtime. Romeo Weems came off the bench to lead the Blue Demons with 21 points, while senior guard Charlie Moore is averaging 20.5 ppg in DePaul's two games.
UConn and DePaul have met 11 times overall, with UConn holding a 10-1 edge. The last game between the teams was in the 2012-13 season.
