Huskies Pick Up Road Win With Rout of UNH

DURHAM, N.H. – Junior Sydney Watson and sophomore Grace Coon scored four goals each as the UConn women's lacrosse team picked up a big road victory Sunday afternoon, beating UNH 21-8. The Huskies improve to 3-1 on the season, while the Wildcats fall to 1-2.
Watson's four-goal afternoon brings her season total to a team-high 18. She added seven draw controls an assist as well, totaling 20 points on the season through four games. Sophomore Lia LaPrise picked up a hat trick and added three helpers for six points. She leads the team with 22 points on the year. Senior Olivia Miles and junior Stephanie Palmucci each scored three goals, and Palmucci tallied two assists for five points.
Juniors Abby Vetsch and Olivia Troy had multi-point afternoons for UConn as well. Vetsch recorded her fifth goal of the season and added an assist, while Troy tallied a pair of assists. Sophomore Julia Ozimek won seven draw controls, tying Watson for the team-high on the afternoon.
Freshman Kyra Place scored her first collegiate goal of her career with only seconds remaining in the second half. Fellow freshman Sophie Sorenson also tallied her second goal of the season and her career.
Eleven different Huskies' found themselves on the scoresheet Sunday afternoon. Another balanced offensive performance matched by stifling defense led UConn to win its second game in three days. Three Huskies now have double-digit points so far this season. LaPrise leads with 22, Watson with 20, and Palmucci with 14. The Husky offense is in full swing with six other players recording five or more goals so far this season. As a team, they have tallied 68 goals in four games and have twice broken the 20-goal mark in a game.

The Huskies have a few days off before heading to Hamden, Connecticut for an in-state matchup with Quinnipiac. The game is set for Saturday, February 29th at the Quinnipiac Soccer and Lacrosse Stadium with the opening draw scheduled for 12:00pm.
