WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The UConn baseball team won its fifth game in a row with a 5-2 victory at the University of Hartford on Tuesday afternoon.

Redshirt junior captain Paul Gozzo drove in four RBIs including a go-ahead three-run home run in the sixth. It was the second home run of the season for the UConn catcher.

Senior captain Chris Winkel recorded a three-hit performance and scored a pair of runs in the win.

Sophomore Will Lucas earned his first career win on the mound with 3.1 hitless innings out of the pen.

Angus Mayock logged his first career start on the hill for the Huskies and pitched two innings, giving up just one hit and no earned runs.

The combination of Andrew Marrero (1.2 IP), Kenneth Haus (1.0 IP) and Caleb Wurster (1.0) combined to throw 3.2 scoreless frames to close out the ballgame. Wurster earned his second save of the season.

Next up, the 8-5 Huskies head to Richmond, Va. to open their 11-day, eight-game spring break trip. UConn kicks off the Spider Invitational on Friday, March 13 at 10 a.m. against Monmouth.

The five game win streak is the longest for the Huskies since finishing off a road sweep at No. 16 ECU on April 2, 2017 to push win streak to five games.
In his last seven games, Chris Winkel is 14-26 (.538) at the plate. The senior captain has scored at least a run in nine-straight games (12 runs during span).
The Huskies are 5-1 when Paul Gozzo homers in a game.
The victory snapped a three-game losing streak at Fiondella Field, before today the last win in West Hartford came in 2013.
