Huskies Host No. 19 Massachusetts Saturday Afternoon

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women's lacrosse team will host the University of Massachusetts on Saturday afternoon. Opening draw between the Huskies and Minutewomen is set for 1:00pm at the Sherman Family Complex.

Scouting the Minutewomen
Massachusetts enters Saturday's contest with a 3-1 overall record with wins over Boston College, UMass Lowell, and most recently, Ohio State. The Minutewomen took down the Buckeyes 21-16 to win their second straight game last Sunday. Senior Kaitlyn Cerasi led Massachusetts with five goals and two assists. Cerasi is tied with junior Haley Connaughton for the team lead in points with 20 on the season.
Matchup History
The Huskies and Minutewomen have met eight times since the 2009 season, with Massachusetts holding an 8-0 advantage. Last year's meeting between the teams in Amherst saw the Huskies fall 19-13. UConn looks to defend its home field advantage and claim its first win over Massachusetts.
Last Time Out
UConn is coming off of a 21-4 rout of Quinnipiac last Friday. Twelve players found the back of the net in another well-balanced offensive game for the Huskies. Sophomore Lia LaPrise tallied six assists and a goal for seven points. Junior Stephanie Palmucci had six points on the afternoon with four goals and two assists. Fellow Junior Sydney Watson added to her team-leading goal total, netting four against the Bobcats for 22 on the season. She added nine draw controls as well.
Huskies in the Rankings
Sydney Watson currently sits tied for sixth in goals per game in the NCAA with 4.40. Her 22 goals this season also puts her tied for eighth in the country. Lia LaPrise ranks fifth in the country in assists per game with 3.60 and is tied for sixth in assists with 18.

The Huskies hit the road for a midweek matchup with Columbia on Wednesday, March 11th. The opening draw is scheduled for 3:00pm at the Robert F. Kraft Field at Lawrence A. Wien Stadium.
