STORRS, Conn. – Kiley Anderson, a record setting attacker at UMass Amherst, will join the UConn women's lacrosse coaching staff as announced by head coach Katie Woods this week.
"I want to thank Katie Woods and Lauren Gunning and the whole athletic department. I could not be more excited to join the UConn women's lacrosse family and UConn athletics. Growing up in Connecticut, it's amazing to be working for my hometown state university," said Anderson.
"I cannot wait to start working with the draw unit, I think it's such a crucial part of the game and I'm very excited to get to work with the team. This is such an amazing opportunity and I can't say enough about how excited I am to be part of this program at UConn."
Anderson comes to UConn after spending last season as a volunteer assistant coach at Yale University, helping the development of the student-athletes. She assisted in planning and conducting skill specific individual lessons with players and worked with drawers and circle players to improve their specific skills.
"I think she's going to be a great addition to the program," said Woods. "She's got great energy, a passion for coaching, and is really strong on the field. I'm really excited to have her on staff! As we move back into the Big East, I think she's going to help us compete for the title."
"As a player, she dominated on the draw and was very successful on the offensive end. I'm excited to have her work with our draw team and midfield unit. She's got strong game sense and great technical skill that will be impactful to all of our players."
A former IWLCA First Team All-Northeast Region and Atlantic 10 First Team All-Conference selection, Anderson had a successful playing career at Boston College and the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She served as captain for the Minutewomen during the 2019 season and holds the record for most goals in a single game (9) in program history. Anderson is also second all-time in career draw controls (208) and tied for most goals in a single season (67). She was also selected to the Atlantic 10 All Championship Team in 2017 and 2019. She finished seventh nationally in goals per game (3.94) while helping the Minutewomen rank No. 1 nationally in draw controls per game (19.11) and No. 2 nationally in scoring offense (17.47 goals per game).
Prior to her time at Yale, she was a coach at the Nor'easter Premiere Lacrosse Club, Nor'easter Next, and UMass Amherst and Yale lacrosse camps. Anderson also helped as a coach at the Northwestern and Salve Regina Nor'easter lacrosse camps.
Anderson graduated with a B.A. in sociology in May 2019. A native of Killingworth, Conn., she attended Haddam-Killingworth High School and was an honorable mention US Lacrosse All-American. She also was a U.S. Lacrosse Academic All-American.
