STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women's hockey team (4-5-1, 4-5-1) notched 1-0 road shutout to open its weekend series against New Hampshire on Friday evening at the Whittemore Center.
Amy Landry scored her first career goal just 41 ticks into the game but that is all the Huskies would need. Tia Chan earned her second shutout of the season making 24 saves on the evening.

The only thing stopping Chan on Friday night was her skate blade falling off during the second period. Samantha Carpentier-Yelle came in for Chan for a brief while the freshman had her blade replaced.
The Huskies looked liked they had made it 2-0 late in the first period on a shot from Danielle Fox but the referees looked at video review and determined that Natalie Snodgrass had interfered with the puck before crossing the goal line.
Throughout the second and third periods the Huskies were able to create quality scoring chances but Wildcat's goaltender Ava Boutilier was up to the challenge, finishing the game with 27 stops.
The UConn defense helped out Chan with 14 blocked shots including three each for Cam Wong and Emily Reid.
The Huskies look to carry momentum into tomorrow with a 6 p.m. matchup against the Wildcats at the Freitas Ice Forum.
