STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women's soccer team (8-7-1, 4-4-1 BIG EAST) fell, 1-0, in a hard-fought match to No. 17 Xavier (16-1-1, 9-1-0) Sunday in the Huskies' regular-season home finale.
Before the game, UConn honored Rachel Marchini, Halle Palmedo, Kara Long, Isabelle Lynch, Kelsey Kohler and Duda Santin on Senior Day.
Xavier scored just 5:34 into the game. The UConn defense worked to keep the Musketeers scoreless for the rest of regulation.
UConn had more chances in the second half as the Huskies made six shots. Sophomore Jaydah Bedoya lead the team with two shots on goal.
Sophomore goalkeeper Kaitlyn Mahoney made seven saves vs. Xavier.
The Musketeers led 16-8 in shots and 11-1 in corner kicks.
The Huskies close out the regular season at No. 20 Georgetown Thursday at 2 p.m.
