STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women's soccer team (8-7-1, 4-4-1 BIG EAST) finishes the regular season at No. 21 Georgetown (11-0-6, 7-0-2) Thursday at 2 p.m.
The Huskies are coming off a 1-0 loss to No. 17 Xavier Sunday. Sophomore Kaitlyn Mahoney made five saves vs. the Musketeers.
Mahoney was named the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week Monday. The sophomore made a career-high 14 saves in a 1-1 double-overtime draw at Providence on Thursday, while making five stops against regular-season champion Xavier on Sunday. Mahoney surrendered just one goal per contest despite facing a total of 47 shots over the two-game span.
This season, Gia Vicari leads the Hoyas with nine goals and 25 points. Allie Augur has started all 17 games in goal and holds a 0.39 goals-against average and a .873 save percentage.
With a win Thursday, the Huskies would secure a bid to the BIG EAST Tournament. UConn could also advance to the BIG EAST Tournament with a draw, depending on the Marquette-DePaul outcome.
