- The UConn Huskies head up to Hanover, New Hampshire on Saturday night for a non-conference match-up at Dartmouth College. The Huskies are on game five of a season-long seven game road swing.
- The Huskies are coming off a Hockey East win on the road Tuesday night after knocking off No. 20 Northeastern, 5-3. UConn has won each of their last three meetings with Northeastern, all at Matthews Arena, and six of the last eight.
- The Dartmouth Big Green gets their season officially underway this weekend hosting ECAC foe Harvard on Friday night before taking on the Huskies on Saturday. Dartmouth played a pair of exhibitions, losing at Harvard, 4-0 and winning at UMass, 3-2 in overtime.
- The Big Green have won all three previous meetings against the Huskies, all at home. The last match-up took place in the championship game of the 2019 Ledyard Classic, a 4-3 Dartmouth win.
- Under head coach Mike Cavanaugh, the Huskies are 11-13-4 against teams from the ECAC. UConn will also face Colgate, Harvard, Yale and potentially Quinnipiac (in the CT Ice tournament) this season.
- UConn grad student goaltender Darion Hanson transferred in this season from Union, where he faced Dartmouth three times during that time. Hanson was 2-1-0 against the Big Green, 1-1-0 in Hanover. He sported a 2.99 goals against average with 82 saves in his three games. On the season, has been the Huskies starter in all six games this season and owns a 2.48 goals against average and a .925 save percentage  Hanson ranks fourth in Hockey East in save percentage and fifth in goals against in the early going.
- In Tuesday's win at Northeastern, sophomore Nick Capone had a break-out game scoring a pair of goals and adding an assist to pace the Huskies. After falling behind 1-0 early, UConn scored three times in the first period, two from Capone, and never trailed again on the way to a 5-3 win.
- Senior Marc Gatcomb scored a goal with an assist while classmate Ryan Wheeler got his first goal of the season. Freshman Chase Bradley scored his first collegiate goal in the win.
- Senior Jachym Kondelik and sophomore Ryan Tverberg lead the team in scoring with seven points apiece. Tverberg had two assists at Northeastern and has three goals and four assists on the season. He shares the team lead in goals scored with Gatcomb and junior Vladislav Firstov.
- Kondelik has collected two goals and a team-best five assists and has had at least a point in five of the six games. Kondelik is coming off his third-straight season of 20-plus points, finishing with four goals and a team-best 18 assists last year. He is the Huskies leading active career point leader at 78 points (18g/60a).
- Senior Jonny Evans has four points on a goal and three assists through six games. Evans was a CCM/AHCA second team All-American, UConn's first since 1998, after winning the Hockey East scoring title with 29 points on 14 goals and 15 assists last season. He also became the first UConn player to be named a Hockey East First All-Star. Evans was also a finalist for the Hockey East Player of the Year award as well as being a Hobey Baker candidate.
- The Huskies were picked to finish sixth in this year's Hockey East Preseason Coaches' Poll, their highest ever spot in the preseason ranking. In six of their seven seasons in Hockey East, the Huskies have outplayed their preseason prediction. Last season, UConn was tabbed seventh in the preseason poll and finished fourth in the final standings, their best-ever conference finish.Â
- The leadership for this year's Huskies will be made up by a foursome of upperclassman. Seniors Carter Turnbull, an assistant captain last season, and Jachym Kondelik will wear the "C" on their jerseys this year while fellow senior Marc Gatcomb and junior Roman Kinal will serve as assistant captains.
Last Meeting vs. Dartmouth
December 29, 2021 @ Dartmouth - L, 4-3
- UConn's Carter Turnbull scored twice in the third period but Dartmouth erased a two-goal deficit to come away with a 4-3 win in the championship game of the 31st Ledyard Classic at Thompson Arena.
- Dartmouth's Quin Foreman scored a pair for the Big Green including the game-winner with 3:34 left in the third period to earn tournament MVP honors.
- After a scoreless first period, the two teams traded second period goals to set up a wild third period finish. Turnbull scored twice in the span of 42 seconds to give the Huskies a 3-1 lead. Dartmouth started their comeback with a goal from Drew O'Connor at 6:49 and then tied it at 9:38 as Sam Hesler got a goal after a review.
- Foreman provided the game-winner for the Big Green at 16:26, causing a turnover, racing up ice and burying it for his second of the night. Dartmouth's Adrian Clark finished with 41 saves.
- The Huskies outshot Dartmouth, 44-27, while both teams were 1-for-5 on the power play.
