UConn Closes Regular Season at Gampel vs. Butler and Xavier

STORRS, Conn. – Closing out the regular season at Gampel Pavilion, the UConn women's volleyball team will host Butler and Xavier as it looks to gain momentum heading into the postseason.
UConn (20-8, 12-4 BIG EAST) clinched a spot in the BIG EAST Championship with its five-set win at St. John's last Friday. The Huskies will be the No. 3 seed in the championship, which begins on Friday, Nov. 26.
Friday will mark Senior Night and the final game at Gampel this season. UConn will honor its three graduating members of the class of 2022 in Anna Petrova, Klaudia Sowizral, and McKayla Wuensch before the match starts at 7 p.m.
With a pair of wins, UConn would post its first 14-win season at home since the 2001 campaign. The Huskies have already made history with 12 BIG EAST wins, which are their most ever in a single season.
Wuensch, a graduate student, is nearing a milestone as she's 13 assists away from reaching 2,000 in her career. Wuensch is having a career year and has already more than doubled her previous single season assist high with 859 over 25 matches played.
Senior Caylee Parker repeated as the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week after leading all players with 4.33 kills per set. Parker recorded game highs in kills against both St. John's (22) and Seton Hall (17) while notching a .367 hitting percentage to earn her third offensive player of the week honor this season.
SCOUTING BUTLER
Butler is one of two teams in the league to have a better road record than home, as it stands at 6-3 away from home compared to a 5-11 mark at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
Melody Davidson ranks fourth in the BIG EAST in hitting percentage (.331), though the Huskies limited her to a .167 swing percentage in the previous matchup in October, which they won 3-0 in Indianapolis.
SCOUTING XAVIER
UConn took a five-set thriller in Cincinnati in the first matchup thanks to 19-kill performances by Parker and junior Jasmine Davis.
UP NEXT
Marquette will host the BIG EAST Championship, which will take place Nov. 26-27.
