BSB Loses Rubber Game at No. 5/16 Virginia, 4-2

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The UConn baseball team lost, 4-2, to No. 5/16 Virginia on Sunday afternoon at Davenport Field at Disharoon Park.
The Huskies only managed four hits against the Cavalier's pitching staff and the loss dropped the Huskies record to 1-2.
Kyler Fedko led the way offensively with a pair of hits, marking his first multi-hit game of the season.
On the mound, Austin Peterson made his UConn debut out of the bullpen. The right-hander logged 3.2 innings allowing just one run and struck out a pair.
Pat Gallagher aided the UConn bullpen by getting out of a first and third, one-out jam in the sixth. The Leominster, Mass. native pitched 1.2 innings allowing a pair of hits, no walks and two strikeouts.
Freshman Brendan O'Donnell made his first career appearance tossing a scoreless eighth inning for the Huskies. Chris Brown, Reggie Crawford and Erik Stock all helped out the newcomer by flashing the leather in the 8th inning.
The Huskies return to the field next Friday, February 26 at Southern Mississippi at 5 p.m. ET.

- With his double in his first at-bat on Sunday, Chris Brown recorded his first career extra base hit.
- Ben Maycock made his first start of 2021 as the UConn designated hitter.
- Reggie Crawford failed to reach base for the first time in his career (16 games).
