The River Hawks used a strong offensive first period and took a 1-0 lead on a power play goal from Brian Chambers. The Huskies tied it up in the second on Kale Howarth's (Red Deer, Alberta) fifth goal on the season. UML would get a late goal in the second with Reid Stefanson scoring with just 15 seconds left in the period to send his team to the locker room up 2-1.
UConn freshman Ryan Tverberg (Richmond Hill, Ontario) came up with the game-tying goal at the 10:42 mark of the third period, his third of the season. In the overtime session, Lee snapped a shot off a UConn stick to beat goaltender Tomas Vomacka (Trutnov, Czech Republic) to send the River Hawks home with the win.
Freshman Artem Shlaine (Moscow, Russia) picked-up an assist on the Tverberg goal, extending his point streak to seven-straight games. Vomacka stopped 29 shots on the night while UML freshman goaltender Henry Welsch made a career-high 31 saves to earn the win. UConn was 0-for-3 on the power play and held a 33-32 edge on shots.
