Field Hockey Prepares for Two-Game Series Against Liberty

STORRS, Conn. – The two teams that sit atop the BIG EAST field hockey standings will square-off this weekend when the University of Connecticut field hockey team travels to Philadelphia, Pa. for a two-game series with Liberty. Saturday's contest is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. while Sunday's showdown is set for 2:30 p.m. Both contests will take place at Temple in an effort to mitigate distanced traveled for both squads.
The Huskies enter the weekend with a spotless 3-0 record, including a 2-0 mark in BIG EAST play. Sophomore midfielder Sophie Hamilton leads the league in points per game at 4.67 and goals per game at 1.67. She and teammate Claire van den Noort are tied atop the league at 1.33 assists per contests.
UConn has dominated the competition this season, scoring 12 goals and not allowing a single score by the opposition. The Huskies also lead the league with 18.33 shots per game.
Liberty has posted gaudy numbers as well and the Flames have played a league-high seven games already. Liberty is second to UConn at 4.93 goals per game and .86 goals allowed.
