Huskies Complete Sweep on Senior Night

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women's volleyball team (3-6, 3-4 BE) defeated Seton Hall (4-7, 2-6 BE) on Saturday evening at Gampel Pavilion. The Huskies completed the series sweep as they celebrated the teams four seniors.
How it Happened
The first set saw the Huskies and Pirates alternating points, deadlocked at 9-9 early on. UConn opened a 16-11 lead, forcing Seton Hall into a timeout. Out of the break, UConn would hold onto the lead and take the opening frame 25-17.
Seton Hall jumped out to an early 6-3 lead in set two. UConn was forced into a timeout trailing 11-6, looking for an answer to the Pirate momentum. Despite a late rally, the Huskies fell in the second set, 25-17, and the match was tied at 1-1.
The third set began with back-and-forth action and the teams alternating points until the Huskies opened up a 15-11 lead, forcing a Seton Hall timeout. UConn held off a late rally to win the set 25-18 and take a 2-1 lead in the match.
UConn led 13-10 at the midway point of the fourth set. They would maintain control of the set, taking a 19-15 lead and forcing Seton Hall to call timeout. The Huskies held off another late rally to take the final set 25-21 and win the match 3-1.
Leading the Pack
Junior Caylee Parker led the team with 19 kills, hitting at a .340 clip on the night, and added 10 digs for her fifth double-double of the season. Fellow junior Kennadie Jake-Turner tallied 11 kills, five digs, and two blocks. Sophomore Madi Whitmire recorded 21 assists and five digs.
Senior Night
Redshirt junior Courtney Morris recorded a team-high 27 assists. Fellow seniors Genna Florig and Ally Barrett tallied six kills and 13 digs, respectively. Senior Isabelle Peterson has been out with injury but started the game for the Huskies before exiting the game prior to the opening serve.
